My Involvement
I was Credited as the Artist for this game. though I also did a little bit of game design when it comes to the game rules.

However, when we figured out what kind of game we were making, I started considering adding rules for when the game changed. So, I created a list of additional rules and categorised them from small changes to major late-game changes. Most of the rules ended up in the game.
(Context: A Word document with a list of ideas for game rules. This document was incredibly useful for the programmers.
Note: Not all rules made it into the final game, but most were added.)
When making the game, I was doing art.
the first thing I've made is the 2D chess pieces, originally planned for the '2D chess pieces' rule that I thought of, but eventually was used for the minimap.

These assets would later be used for the background of the Itch Page, as pieces scattered on a red carpet.

Designing the Title
Next, I made the game title, which was my most creative and challenging part of the project. I wanted the title to be unique and 3-dimensional. while using MS Paint and Paint.NET, I also used Unity and Snipping Tool to create the title.

With the 3D assets already made and imported into the game project, it was a great opportunity for me to include them for the game title. I created a separate scene solely for the game title (later it was repurposed into a start menu.) and placed some assets into the scene. Beforehand, I used MS Paint to make the words, separating 'Chao', 'tic' and 'Chess and placed them in different places in the scene. Lastly, I used a sphere asset with a black material to create the wrecking ball. all before putting a green screen in the background so it's easier to make the title with a transparent background.

(Early design ideas for the game title (top), designed by me, showed it to my team and one of them like the 4th one, they used that concept to create a design of their own and showed it to me (bottom). I used that design and made the title 3-dimensional.)

Once I made the 3D image into 2D, I then finalised it on Paint.Net, adding an explosion in the background, shadows on the game title and a chain for the wrecking ball.

Overall, I am happy with the game title, one of the best I've made so far. very pleased to be part of the jam with a very creative and skilful team with great ideas and great communication.

Chaotic Chess
Chaotic Chess is a 3D game of chess with a twist. Every four moves, a new rule is added that changes the game.

This game was part of the Brackeys Game Jam 2024.2, I was in a team of 9. out of the 1,500 submitted games, including ours. Chaotic Chess was placed 302nd in the overall rating with a placement of 26th in Innovation.

It took the team 1 week to develop the game.
