Worker's Union:
Overtime

A first-person time loop game that takes place in on office. where you are stuck in a 3 minute loop trying to complete the problems of your co-workers to break their loop of work before confronting your boss.

This game was made in a 20-team development, the game was for the GMTK Game Jam 2025 and was made in 4 days.

I was one of the Game Designers for the team.

My Involvement

I was credited as a Game Designer and a good helper for the team.

At the start of the jam, we brainstorm ideas after learning about the theme 'Loop' and begin thinking of game concepts.

I thought of an idea of a game where you play as a video editor trying to save someone trapped on a videotape from dying over and over, but due to the scoping and the time we had. We ended up with someone else's idea of being trapped in a loop in an office, trying to free coworkers from their loop to break the ultimate loop.

Once we figured out our game, I quickly went into designing ideas for the different loops the coworkers will be trapped in. Discussing with my team about the game mechanics we will have, such as inventory, I considered loop ideas with mechanics in mind, even thinking of new mechanics in the form of mini-games.

I made a design document that has all of the ideas I came up with, wrote down ideas from another Game designer on the team and sharing it to the rest of the team. I ended up making four different drafts of the document before the final version.

What went wrong?

Due to the time constraints, the lead developer of our team finalized the document, to the point where none of the ideas were used, but instead were inspired to create simplfied versions of the ideas.

and even if the outcome of the project wasn't successful, the team found the design document very useful and used many aspects of it to develop the game.
